Construction of the Discovery Park

If you build it, they will come…

Here are a few pictures taken during the construction of the Discovery Park and Playground:

The original grant to build the park came from State of California Park and Recreation bond funds that the Kids Club applied early in 2010. The park design includes natural features such as hills, garden, sand play, gathering places, a wisteria tunnel, trees and other landscaping, and a rope climbing tower. The park was designed with the input of Kids Club members as well as other community groups and parents.

In addition to the State grant funds, the park project has also received important support from the Community Foundation of Mendocino County, ReLeaf, Dave Watts and Sanhedrin Nursery, and Dave Madrigal.

The park opened in the fall of 2014 and continues to be a safe place to play, grow and learn.
